EU’s 2011 budget increases 5,9% | 28Out2010 16:43:43

Meanwhile on planet Brussels... as we get cut to the bone eu votes to increase its budget and extend maternity leave: legislators voted today to increase the EU's 2011 budget by 5.9 per cent from this year, despite government protests that large hikes were unacceptable during times of austerity.
In a string of votes, the European Parliament set the budget at 130.1billion euros (£110billion).
The majority of the EU's 27 governments had agreed that spending should increase by only 2.9 per cent. Others said it should be kept flat.
